Dear Longboat members,
At the members’ meeting on October 17, 2019 Julia Barnes and Gerardo Reyes volunteered to form the club’s Nominating Committee. Lucas Wilson later agreed to join us as the third member. We are writing to formally call for nominations for the Board of Officers (a.k.a., the Executive Committee) for the 2020 Membership Year.
In accordance with the Club Constitution, nominations shall be open to any member in good standing, on the understanding that the member intends to renew his/her membership in the forthcoming membership year.
Nominations are now being accepted for the following positions (a description of duties for each can be found in the attached Club Constitution):
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
Social Coordinator
Race Coordinator
Communications Coordinator
Coaching Coordinator
Nominations will be accepted up to the time of the Election of Officers at the Club’s Annual General Meeting, currently scheduled for December 14, 2019 (more specific details will come closer to the date).
Please note that a) you may nominate yourself; and b) while the nomination of other members is allowed, a nomination will not be accepted without the consent of the nominee. Finally, while multiple nominations for a position have been rare in recent years, the club does have a tradition of competitive elections.
Longboat’s Board of Officers plays an important role in the continued success of the Club. Please consider giving back to the club by putting your name forward for one of the above positions!
