How much is the entry fee?

6k Run/Walk – $30 + HST before June 1, $35 + HST before July 1, $40 + HST after July 1

Kids Run – $15 + HST

Is there a Post – Race Celebration?

Yes!

Post-race Picnic (Subway sandwiches, non-alcoholic drink, and snacks), included with race entry.

Stay for the Award Ceremony and be eligible for free draw prizes (including 4 free pairs of PUMA running shoes!)

What are the Award categories?

NEW for this year – we have added 5 new age group awards, and will be awarding the top 3 male and female age groups by 5 – year increments!

Medals will be awarded to the top 3 overall male and female categories, as well as the top male and female in the following age group categories: Under 20, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

In addition, PUMA will be awarding athletic prize packs to the top 3 overall finishers in the male and female categories, as well as the top master (40+) male and female categories.

Who is the charity beneficiary of this run?

We are raising funds for Start2Finish.

Start2Finish’s mission is to break the cycle of child poverty by providing ongoing educational support to Canada’s at-risk children throughout their school years, nurturing mind, body and social health so they are empowered to succeed and become role models for change

Is the race chip-timed?
The 6km Run/Walk is chip-timed provided by Enfield Timing.

The Kids Run is not a timed event, however a clock will be placed at the Finish Line so you can check your child’s time as they cross.

Is there a Baggage Check?

Yes. There will be a designated area at the Start where runners and walkers can check their bags. There is no cost for the baggage check. Please do not keep anything valuable in the bag.

Event Start Time: Thursday August 10, 2023

6:35pm: Kids Run

7:00pm: 6km Run/Walk

What are the logistics for the kids run?

Kids Run starts at 6:35pm – Same Finish as the 6km race.

Adults can run with their kids.

Kids ages 6 and up have the option to run alone. Parents/Caregivers please meet your child at the finish line.

Kids will also receive a medal, an event bib number, complimentary post-race picnic, and a copy of “Meet Tom Longboat” a Scholastic Canada Biography book by Elizabeth MacLeod, generously donated by Scholastic!

How do I get to the race?

Race begins promptly at 6:35pm (Kids Run) and 7:00pm (6km Run/Walk) on Thursday, August 10, 2023. To arrive at the Centre Island Pavilion on time, please take the Centre Island Ferry. This Ferry leaves the City side at 4:40 pm, 5:20 pm and 6:00 pm. Please note that the Pavilion is 700 metres (10-minute walk) from the Centre Island Ferry Docks, so plan accordingly.

Are walkers allowed?

Yes! Walkers can participate. However, there is no designated walker category nor awards for walkers.

Can I wear my earbuds/headphones during the run?

Yes. You can wear earbuds or headphones but please keep the volume low so that you are aware of runners around you and that you can hear the instructions given by our course marshals.

Can I participate with a Baby Jogger or Stroller?

Yes. Runners/walkers with a Baby Jogger or Stroller must start at the back.

Am I allowed to run with my dog?

Yes. Dogs must be leashed at all times and have had experiences running with a crowd of people. Runners/walkers with dogs must start at the back.

No dogs allowed in the Kids Run.

I am coming from out of town, is there accommodation on the island?

Unfortunately, there are no accommodations set aside for this event. Runners/walkers are responsible to find their own accommodations.

I can no longer participate in the run. Can I get a refund or defer my registration to next year?

We are unable to offer refunds or deferrals for the run. If you can find someone else who would like to do the run in your place, you can transfer your registration to them. Email communications@longboatroadrunners.com
