Club Runs

Members meet several times a week for workouts and casual runs – Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Wednesday Evening (6 pm)

Type: Tempo Run         Distance: 10-18K       Average Pace: 4:00 min/km to 6:00 min/km



This is the most widely attended run of the week and important to attend if you wish to benefit from the group training effect. If you have a race goal, this is the run where you will have the opportunity to meet & run with people who are training at your pace and have similar  goals. Many members use this as a tempo run – be prepared for a good workout!  There are a few members who run 10K and a few 18K while most run 12K or 16K. We have announcements and race results at the start prior to an easy run through city streets to get to the lakeshore where the workout begins.
We meet at the University Settlement which is a community center behind the Art Gallery of Ontario and OCAD University (23 Grange Road at the south end of Grange Park). For $15, you can set up a Longboat membership and have access the change rooms with lockers to store belonging and showers to use after the run (you must bring your own lock, towel, shampoo, etc.).

After the run, many members head to the pub to enjoy a few drinks, dinner and good company at the Town Crier (tables upstairs) to enjoy its large selection of beer while a few others go to The Rex for some jazz music.

Saturday Mornings (8:45 am)

Type: Casual Run (no structured workout)         Distance: 6-10K         Average Pace: 5:00 min/km to 7:00 min/km  


We meet at the Grenadier Café 15 min prior to the start for a more casual, recreational run on the trails in High Park. The distance is generally between 6K (one loop of the park) or 10K (two loops). After the run, members have breakfast together. Attending this run is a great way to get to know fellow members and enjoy Toronto’s largest park before it gets busy.

Sunday Mornings West End Y (9 am, 8 am in the summer)
Type: Long Run         Distance: 16-34K        Average Pace: 4:00 min/km to 5:20 min/km

This is our faster weekly long run, if you wish to run at a slower pace consider our other long run from Settlement. We meet about 10 min prior to the start and the group stays together for about 3K before breaking in to smaller groups based on distance and pace which members discuss prior to the start and during the first 3K. The route varies each week and is usually announced on the Web site, with a Facebook post link, by the Coaching Coordinator the day prior to the run.  Please click here to see maps of our regular routes.
We meet at the West end YMCA which is on the corner of College and Dovercourt as a member of Longboat, you have free access use the change room (you must bring your own lock, towel, shampoo, etc.) on Sunday provided you bring some photo id.

Sunday Mornings Central from Settlement (9:30 am with an optional early loop at 8:00am)
Type: Long Run         Distance: 10-32K        Average Pace: 5:30 min/km to 6:15 min/km


This is our oldest weekly long run at a more leisurely pace than the run at the West End, and we try to ensure no one is left behind when we run.  We meet about 10min prior to the start, when the route and distance groups are determined, before we set off. The majority run 10K but some members start at 7:30 to add 18K prior to the main group meet up for a 10-12K run. Check Facebook for details the day prior to the run.
